Reducing our carbon emissions

Throughout Victoria, water organisations have committed to targets to reduce their carbon emissions as part of a sector-wide Emissions Reduction Pledge.

In 2018, we pledged to reduce South East Water’s carbon emissions by 45 per cent by 2025.

This builds on our ongoing activities to reduce carbon emissions and supports our greater goal to have net-zero emissions by 2030 – a goal that our customers have told us they overwhelmingly support. Our immediate focus is to use renewable energy like solar to power our water recycling plants, one of the most power-intensive parts of our business.
