Works in your area starting June 2024

You might not notice a lot of the work we do because most of it is beneath your feet. Every day, we’re maintaining and upgrading the pipes and pumps that keep water and wastewater flowing.

With upcoming works at our Longwarry Water Recycling Plant (WRP) you might see us around.

Here's what to expect while we get the job done.

What we're doing

This project is to install two aerators within current lagoons at our Longwarry Water Recycling Plant (WRP).

The project will increase treatment capacity of the WRP to meet increasing flows and loads as a result of growth in the region.

You shouldn’t notice any change to your water or sewer services.

When it's happening

We’re planning to start work in June 2024 and finish by December 2024. It should take around 7 months to complete (depending on the weather).

You might not notice us working on site every day, but we'll keep our neighbours informed of our progress.

Due to specialised/made to order components of the project being delayed works at Longwarry Water Recycling Plant have been delayed and are now planned to finish in April 2025.

We’ll be packing up from 19 December 2024 for the Christmas and New Year holidays and will return from 6 January 2025.

You can expect us to work Monday to Friday between 7 am and 6 pm. On the odd occasion, we might need to work at other times for safety or technical reasons.

What might impact you

We'll need to use large machinery to install the new aerators.

We’ll do our best to keep impacts to a minimum, however these are some things you might notice while we work:

  • More trucks on the streets around you  and entering the WRP
  • Noise from machinery.

Please take care when travelling around the WRP and driveway.

Don't miss these details

We will have a site compound set up in the WRP. These buildings will remain on site for future works at the WRP.

We'll access the plant through the main driveway off Cathcart Road, Longwarry. We'll do our best to reduce impacts are clean up the road if required.

We're planning multiple upgrades to the WRP over the next 5 years. We haven't finalised the details and impacts of these projects yet, but will keep the WRP webpage up to date.
