Enter the 2024 schools poster competition

The National Water Week poster competition is now open for all Victorian kindergarten and primary school students.

To help celebrate National Water Week, we’re proud to be supporting this year’s poster competition. The theme is ‘Water for all, inspiring action’, which highlights the important role water plays in bringing individuals and communities together. 

Entries are open to kinder through to Grade 6 primary students who can design, draw or paint a poster that demonstrates how water for all inspires action. 

Key dates

Entries close Friday 6 September 2024, 5pm.

Winners announced during National Water Week, 21-27 October 2024.

First prize winners from each category will be entered into the state level competition. 

Entry categories

  • Early learning/kindergarten (individual entries)
  • Early learning/kindergarten (collaborative entries accepted)
  • Prep/Foundation (individual entries only)
  • Grade 1-2 (individual entries only)
  • Grade 3-4 (individual entries only)
  • Grade 5-6 (individual entries only)
Teachers 

Here’s a lesson plan you can use. Focused on guiding students through the design process behind a successful poster, they can unpack the theme ‘United by Water’, mind-map key elements, and develop their concepts through to a final design

Prizes for each category
  • 1st - $100 gift card
  • 2nd $60 gift card
  • 3rd $30 gift card 
School prize

All participating schools will be entered into a random draw to win a $500 educational gift card school prize.

Poster judging

Entries will be judged on:

  • How well the poster communicates the competition theme, ‘Water for all, inspiring action’ and/or relevant water-related issues
  • How attractive it looks from a distance
  • Have art materials been used effectively
  • Does the poster use innovative imagery, design or concepts
