Sewer servicing guidelines

The Sewer Servicing Guidelines explain the responsibilities and requirements for any sewer works including blocked sewers, sewer developments, test priors, boundary traps, updating sewer plans and much more.

Only South East Water and our authorised contractors can work on or enter our assets. If you’re not sure if you or the contractor you have engaged is authorised, please contact our 24/7 faults and emergencies team on 13 28 12. Read these guidelines in conjunction with South East Water’s ‘Notice of Agreement’ and ‘Conditions of Consent’ issued pursuant to Section 144 of the Water Act 1989.

Guidelines for large urban water users

The Industry Water Connection Guide has been developed by DEECA to help new businesses understand how to access and connect to water, sewerage and recycled water services.

Large industrial water users, including data centres, can be supported without compromising water security through use of recycled or other treated water.  Water needs for these users exceed typical commercial consumption and therefore require more detailed servicing assessments, infrastructure planning and regulatory oversight.

South East Water works with proponents, such as data centres, to incorporate best-practice water efficient design and supply them with non-potable water, such as recycled water, rather than drinking water, wherever feasible.
