Investigative works in your area from late October 2024

You might not notice a lot of the work we do because most of it is beneath your feet. Every day, we’re maintaining and upgrading the pipes and pumps that keep water and the sewage network flowing.

With some upcoming works in Ballarto Road, Yallambee Road and Manks Road, Clyde you might see us or our Industry Partner ABK (Abergeldie, BMD, KBR) around. Here’s what to expect while we get the job done.

What we're doing

This project is to construct a transfer main for Class C recycled water to connect the Blind Bight Water Recycling Plant to an existing pipeline on Ballarto Road. This will enable the network to continue to run smoothly in the area and ensure we continue to meet environmental complaince regulations.

Class C recycled water cannot be supplied for residential use for health and safety reasons.

We're still planning this project but you might see us around, or more trucks in your area as we understake investigative works so we can finalise our plans.

You shouldn’t notice any change to your water or sewer services while we work.

When it's happening

We're still planning this project, but you might see us around, or more trucks in the area from late October to mid December 2024 while we undertake investigative works. This should take around 7 weeks (depending on the weather).

We'll return to the area in early 2025 to start construction of the project. We'll let you know before we start works in your area.

You can expect us to work Monday to Friday between 7 am and 5 pm. On the odd occasion, we might need to work at other times for safety, technical or permit reasons.

What might impact you

We’ll do our best to keep impacts to a minimum, however these are the kinds of things you might notice while we work:

  • Construction noise from machinery including beepers when trucks reverse and the use of heavy machinery.
  • Surveyors in the local area.
  • Intermittent lane closures on Ballarto, Yallambee and Manks Roads, Clyde.  Traffic controllers will guide you through the area.

Don't miss these details

We’re working with ABK to help us.

During the works ABK will have a temporary site compound which will be secure and adhere to strict safety requirements.

When we’ve finished the job, we’ll leave things how we found them and make sure we return any areas we’ve impacted as close as possible to their original condition.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our infrastructure program involves replacing, maintaining and upgrading the existing water and sewerage infrastructure above and below the ground, so you can always rely on us when you need a drink, a bath, to wash the clothes or dishes and every time you flush or send water down the drain.

ABK will undertake these works on behalf of South East Water.

During these works we may need to block your driveway access. If this is necessary, we will notify you in peron and where possible, provide at least 24 hours' notice so that alternative parking arrangements can be made.

To safely undertake these works, traffic conditions may change so please take care when travelling around the construction sites.

Construction hours will be Monday to Friday between 7am and 6pm. If Saturday works are necessary, they will take place between 8am and 5pm. On the odd occasion, we might need to work at other times for safety, technical or permit reasons.

Investigative works will start in late October and take approximately 7 weeks to complete. We'll then return to site in early 2025 to start construction.

We'll let you know before we start works in the area.

South East Water and their appointed Industry Partner, ABK, will keep you informed about the project and construction in your area. We'll also keep this webpage up to date.

During the investigative works ABK will have a temporary site compound at a location agreed by Council. The compound will be secure and adhere to strict safety requirements.

The construction methods chosen are not likely to cause high levels of dust and vibration. The project team will carry out regular site area inspections during high volumes of work to monitor for the safety and comfort of local residents and the community.  There will be periods of noise from machinery and drilling rigs. The crew will try to keep noisier works to a minimum between 7 am and 9 am.

There is no cost to the property owner for these works.

When we’ve finished the job, we’ll leave things how we found them and make sure we return any areas we’ve impacted as close as possible to their original condition.
