South East Water has launched its Reconciliation Action Plan 2026–28, committing to actions that will further embed First People’s knowledge, cultural safety and Traditional Owner partnerships across the organisation.

Endorsed by Reconciliation Australia, the RAP acknowledges the organisation's position as a water provider on Traditional Lands. It reinforces the importance of working alongside Traditional Owners and First Peoples and drawing from their connection to land, water and community.

South East Water Managing Director Carla Purcell said the Innovate RAP embodied a relationship-centric approach to reconciliation.

"We're committed to nurturing our relationships with First Peoples, and we'll continue to work with Traditional Owner groups to understand and support their connection to Country.

“This RAP builds on our ongoing work to respect and honour First People’s knowledge and culture, and strengthens partnerships to inform water management decision-marking," Ms Purcell said.

Senior Manager, First Peoples Glenn Pellegrin said the RAP provided ongoing opportunities for First Peoples.

“This plan helps up create a culturally safe and more inclusive workplace while drawing on First People’s knowledge and perspectives to improve the way we make decisions and deliver essential services,” Mr Pellegrin said.

“The actions give South East Water an opportunity to learn and engage with First People’s culture.”

The RAP 2026-28 will guide how South East Water strengthens relationships with Traditional Owners and First Peoples, supports cultural safety, creates opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and businesses, and incorporates First People’s knowledge into the ways of working on Country and with community.
