2025 National Water Week poster competition winners
Young water heroes are being celebrated this week with South East Water announcing the local winners of the 2025 National Water Week poster competition.
More than 6,000 local primary, kindergarten, and early learning students from across Melbourne’s south-east and the Mornington Peninsula took part in this year’s competition.
A total of 1,166 creative posters were entered reflecting this year’s National Water Week theme, ‘Water Heroes: Save Every Drop’, which highlights the important role we can all play in using water wisely.
The competition is an opportunity for students to integrate their learning in science and art, giving them an opportunity to express their learning creatively.
Entries came from 51 local schools and 6 pre-schools, with first prize winners from each category to be entered into the state level competition.
South East Water General Manager Strategy and Stakeholder Karen Lau said it was exciting to receive a record number of entries.
“This year’s theme, ‘Water Heroes: Save Every Drop’, creatively encouraged children to explore their connection to water and express their ideas visually about protecting water as a precious resource.
“Congratulations to all the students who won prizes this year – you should all be very proud!”
South East Water awarded Mt Eliza Primary School this year’s school prize of a $500 gift voucher for having the greatest number of entries.
Mt Eliza Primary School Principal Michael Kent said the school was proud to accept the school prize, and embed the knowledge of water-saving into students’ learning.
“Our very own water heroes enjoyed the opportunity to learn about using water wisely, and we’ve had valuable discussions about why it’s important to save every drop.
“We have a very environmentally conscious and friendly community at Mt Eliza Primary School and this focus with South East Water has contributed to our ongoing work in raising further awareness and embedding sustainable practices throughout our community.”
