South East Water and Gumbuya World have teamed up to make it easier for over 380,000 park visitors each year to cool down and choose tap, with a new water station at Gumbuya World, Victoria's wildest theme park.

The new water station is part of the Choose Tap® initiative that aims to improve the health and wellbeing of the community and the environment by promoting tap water as the best choice of hydration.

The water station features an accessible water bubbler, bottle refill tap, solar lighting and a digital water meter – which measures water usage to calculate how many plastic bottles have been saved from landfill due to refilling.

South East Water General Manager Strategy and Stakeholder Karen Lau said the water station will help visitors make a sustainable choice and enjoy Melbourne’s best-tasting tap water.

“We’re delighted to help visitors make a more sustainable choice by choosing tap water when they visit Gumbuya World.

“Too many single-use plastic bottles end up in landfill, so we can all make a difference every time we choose to refill with tap water.” Ms Lau said.

Gumbuya World Theme Park CEO Ron Weinzierl said visitors are encouraged to make healthier choices by bringing their own water containers, as well as fresh fruit and vegetables when visiting the park.

“The Choose Tap water station is the latest initiative supporting our commitment to a cleaner, healthier and more environmentally responsible park.

“By encouraging visitors to choose reusable bottles over single use plastics, we’re helping to protect our natural environment – and the furry and feathered wildlife that call Gumbuya World home.”

The Choose Tap® initiative is national network of water retailers, including South East Water, and councils working together across Australia.
