Upcoming works in your area

You might not notice a lot of the work we do because most of it is beneath your feet. Every day, we’re maintaining and upgrading the pipes and pumps that keep water flowing.

With some upcoming works in Fourth Street, Black Rock you might see us or our industry partner ABK JV (Abergeldie, BMD, KBR) around.

Here’s what to expect while we get the job done.

What we're doing

This project is to design and construct a 700kL sewage detention storage tank system at the Black Rock Sewage Pump Station site to minimize the risk of spillages in the event of a pump station failure and wet well overflow at the Pump Station site.

We need to undertake investigative works to help inform the design. Investigative works will include site survey, geotechnical investigations, arborist, ecologist and contamination assessments and non-destructive digging (NDD). NDD uses pressurised water to break up and vacuum soil to help us understand the subsurface environment which helps our planning. The works will be within the South East Water Pump Station site.

Once investigative works are completed we'll finalise our design.

You shouldn’t notice any change to your water or sewer services while we work.

When it's happening

We’re planning to start work in mid-November until 18 December 2026. It should take approximately five weeks to complete (depending on the weather).

You can expect us to work Monday to Friday between 7 am and 6 pm. On the odd occasion, we might need to work at other times for safety, technical or permit reasons.

We haven't finalised construction timelines yet. We'll keep this webpage updated and notify the area prior to construction starting.

What might impact you

We’ll do our best to keep impacts to a minimum, however these are the kinds of things you might notice while we undertake investigative works:

  • More trucks on the streets around you and entering and exiting the site at 6 Fourth Street
  • Reduced street parking near 6 Fourth Street
  • Construction noise from machinery including beepers when trucks reverse and the use of heavy machinery

Construction staff will be around to make sure people, bikes and cars can move around safely. You'll still have access to footpaths and businesses in the area.

Once the investigation works are complete, we’ll finalise the designs for the project and return to site to commence construction works.  We haven't finalised construction timelines yet. We'll keep this webpage updated and notify the area prior to construction starting.

There are no planned disruptions to your water or sewerage services during these works.

When we’ve finished the job, we’ll leave things how we found them and make sure we return any areas we’ve impacted as close as possible to their original condition.
