Works in your area

You might not notice a lot of the work we do because most of it is beneath your feet. Every day, we’re maintaining and upgrading the pipes and pumps that keep water flowing and take wastewater away. With upcoming works at the Adina Street end of French Street Reserve, Rye you might see us or our industry partner, Abergeldie, BMD & KBR (ABK) around.

Here’s what to expect while we get the job done.

What we're doing

As a continuation of the Peninsula Eco project, we anticipate that in 2028 we’ll start work on the construction of the Adina Street Sewer Pump Station, which will help manage increased flows into the sewerage network.

To help us with the design of the sewer pump station we need to undertake investigative works. This will involve locating and exposing underground services and cables, using non-destructive digging (NDD). NDD uses pressurised water to break up and vacuum soil to expose assets and services. We’ll also survey ground levels and contours.

When it's happening

We anticipate to start investigative works from Friday 6 November to Friday 18 December 2026 (weather permitting).

You can expect us to work Monday to Friday between 7 am and 6 pm. We may need to work at other times for safety or technical reasons.

Construction of the Adina Street Sewer Pump Station is in the planning phase and we haven't finalised timelines. We'll let you know when we'll be starting works.

What might impact you

We’ll do our best to keep impacts to a minimum, however these are the kinds of things you might notice while we work:

  • Construction crews in the area between 7 am and 6 pm, Monday to Friday (depending on the weather)
  • More construction vehicles on the streets around you and in French Street Reserve
  • Construction noise and dust from machinery including beepers when trucks reverse and the use of surveying and drilling machinery
  • Tree trimming if required for access.
  • Construction staff will be available to guide pedestrians and cyclists safely around the work area in French Street Reserve.

Don't miss these details

We’ll finalise the design for the project once the investigation works are complete before returning to site to commence construction works. It is anticipated that construction on the sewer pump station will commence mid-late 2028.

Once we have a confirmed timeline for the construction of the sewer pump station, we’ll keep you updated.

There will be no planned disruptions to your water or sewerage services during these works.

Frequently Asked Questions

We manage an infrastructure program which involves replacing, maintaining and upgrading the existing water  and sewerage infrastructure above and below the ground, so you can always rely on us when you need a drink, a bath, to wash the clothes or dishes and every time you flush or send water down the drain.

This project is part of South East Water's Peninsula ECO Project, which will provide reticulated sewerage services to over 16,000 properties in the southern Mornington Peninsula between Rye and Portsea. The project has required the building of two new sewer pump stations with one at Melbourne Road South, Sorrento completed in early 2015 with the second to be completed at the Adina Street end of French Street Reserve in Rye in approximately mid-late 2028.

A sewer pump station is an essential piece of infrastructure which transfers wastewater to one of our treatment plants.

The new pump station is anticipated to include new above and below ground infrastructure.

Upon completing investigative works the design of the pump station will be finalised.
