You might not notice a lot of the work we do because most of it is beneath your feet. Every day, we’re maintaining and upgrading the pipes and pumps that keep water flowing. With upcoming sewer renewal works in Riviera Street, Seaford, you might see us or our contractor Abergeldie, BMD & KBR (ABK) around.

Here’s what to expect while we get the job done.

What we're doing

This project is to renew the sewer rising main pipeline in Riviera Street, Seaford to increase the reliability of the sewerage network and reduce the risk of spills.  We're working with ABK to help us.

Completion of the sewer rising main renewal works in Riviera Street in Seaford are planned to finish late-May 2026, including reinstatement of the area. Thanks for your patience whilst we complete these essential works.

When it's happening

You can expect us to work Monday to Friday between 7 am and 6 pm. On occasion, we might need to work at other times for safety, technical or permit reasons.

Tie-in works

From Sunday 3 May, we will need to temporarily reactivate the de‑watering system to allow us to connect the new sewer main to the existing network. Tie‑in works are expected to take approximately one week, weather permitting.

Once the new sewer connection has been completed and tested, the de‑watering system will be switched off and removed from site.

Final stage of works

Once the connection and testing works are finished, additional works will continue for approximately two weeks. These works include:

  • Backfilling of the excavation
  • Completion of electrical works at the pump station
  • Reinstatement of any areas disturbed by our works
What might impact you

De-watering system

During the tie-in works you may notice:

  • A generator‑powered pump operating 24 hours a day to keep groundwater out of the excavation
  • Groundwater is prevalent in this area, so continuous operation is required to complete the works safely and efficiently
  • An increase in noise while the system is in operation

Once the new sewer connection has been completed and tested, the de‑watering system will be switched off and removed from site.

We’ll do our best to keep impacts to a minimum, however these are the kinds of things you might notice during construction:

  • Construction noise from machinery including beepers when trucks reverse and the use of heavy machinery
  • Movement of trucks and machinery between the pump station opposite 1 Riviera Street and the sewer manhole opposite the Riviera Hotel (see map below)
  • Temporary travel delays of up to five minutes along Riviera Street, with a detour via the Melbourne Water easement
  • Temporary fencing and safety flagging around work areas
  • A temporary site compound and storage area within the Riviera Hotel car park
  • Fewer car parks around the works area and on Riviera Street. We kindly request all vehicles, including boats, trailers and caravans be relocated before Sunday, 03 May 2026. Additional parking will remain available at the southern end of Riviera Street (see map below).
