Sewer works in your area from September 2025

You might not notice a lot of the work we do because most of it is beneath your feet. Every day, we’re maintaining and upgrading the pipes and pumps that keep the sewerage network flowing.

With upcoming works in McKinnon Reserve, Tucker Road, St James Avenue and Laurel Street you might see us or our contractor ZJW (Zinfra, Jaydo, WSP, Joint Venture) around. Here’s what to expect while we get the job done.

What we're doing

The Elster Creek Sewer upgrade will increase the capacity of the sewer network to cater for population growth in the area and future-proof the sewerage system.

McKinnon Reserve
We’re returning to complete the final stages of works at McKinnon Reserve in Bentleigh. This final phase involves connecting the new pipe alignment into our sewer pumping station within the reserve.

Tucker Road and St James Avenue
As part of the final stages of this project, we will complete works at the corner of Tucker Road and St James Avenue in Bentleigh.

Laurel Street
We’ll be returning to complete the final stage of works at Laurel Street between East Boundary Road and Daphne Street in Bentleigh.

*Pumps and generators located within McKinnon Reserve will be required to operate continuously to maintain the sewer network, including outside of construction hours and overnight for technical and safety reasons.

McKinnon Reserve

The construction crew will be packing up for the Christmas and New Year holidays and return to finish the job from early January. We’ll be removing our site compound and equipment and making the area safe.

The fenced works area within McKinnon Reserve will remain in place over the holiday period and our site compound area will not be remobilised in January 2026.

When we return we will be mostly carrying out reinstatement works at McKinnon Reserve which include:

  • Turfing the oval area where we have been working

  • Recommissioning of sprinkler pipes/water supply

  • Final tidy up of McKinnon Reserve
