South East Water has completed sewer works across Bentleigh and Noble Park this month to boost capacity for Glen Eira and Greater Dandenong's growing populations.

These upgrades include a new relief sewer to increase network capacity and reduce the likelihood of surcharges and spills in wet weather events. The works strengthens the area’s sewer network for the next 50 years.

The project delivered new relief sewer pipelines and upgrades across:

  • Noble Park

  • Nobel Park North

  • McKinnon

  • Bentleigh

  • Bentleigh East

These improvements provide extra sewer storage and a reliable service for customers.

South East Water General Manager Liveable Water Solutions Charlie Littlefair said the upgraded network supports Glen Eira and Greater Dandenong’s growth and delivers safe and reliable services, day and night.

“These upgrades reduced the risk of spills in wet weather and adds extra network capacity, helping protect local homes, parks and the environment for decades to come.

“We know these works were significant, and we thank the community for their patience as we completed excavations and reinstated the areas,” Mr Littlefair said.

As part of its commitment to community, South East Water has also installed a new drinking fountain and dog bowl for McKinnon Reserve users, showcasing its new Aboriginal artwork.

These projects were delivered by Zinfra, Jaydo, WSP (ZJW) Joint Venture partners as part of South East Water’s proactive major works program.

South East Water is also renewing the Bentleigh Interceptor Branch Sewer which will upgrade 5 km of sewer pipeline across Brighton East and Bentleigh. The upgraded pipeline will support reliability of the wider network.
