Sewer and water works in Fishermans Bend

You might not notice a lot of the work we do because most of it is beneath your feet. Every day, we’re maintaining and upgrading the pipes that keep the sewage and water networks flowing.

With some upcoming works in Fishermans Bend, you might see us or our delivery partner Beca, Fulton Hogan, Interflow Joint Venture (BFHI) around. Here's what to expect while we get the job done.

What we're doing

We'll be installing new sewer and water pipes to increase the capacity of the network to cater for growth and development in Fishermans Bend.

The project involves installing a new underground sewer pipe and maintenance holes on Todd Road between Cook Street and Wharf Road. We’ll also install new water pipes along Todd Road, Cook Street and Salmon Street.

As part of this project, we need to undertake investigative work to help finalise the design and inform the construction methodology.

The investigative works will involve feature survey, service locating, ground and geotechnical investigations in the road reserve and road on Todd Road, Cook Street and Salmon Street. This will involve expert digging in multiple locations along the alignment. The work will start at the Lorimer Street end of Todd Road, before moving to Salmon Street and finally Cook Street.

When it's happening

We'll be working from Monday 15 June until mid October 2026 (depending on the weather).

You can expect us to work Monday to Friday between 7 am and 5 pm and Saturday from 7 am to 1 pm. On the odd occasion, we might need to work at other times for safety, technical or permit reasons.

Once the investigative works are complete, we’ll finalise the design for the project and return to site to commence construction works. We’ll get in touch prior to construction starting.

What might impact you

We’ll do our best to keep impacts to a minimum, however these are the kinds of things you might notice while we complete our investigative works:

  • Changed traffic conditions, including footpath and partial lane closures and reduced parking on:
    •  Todd Road from Lorimer Street to Cook Street
    • Cook Street from Todd Road to Salmon Street
    • Salmon Street from Turner Road to Cook Street
  • Vehicle access along the alignment will be maintained at a reduced speed through traffic control.
  • Construction staff will be around to make sure people, bikes and cars can move around safely. You’ll still have access to businesses in the area.
  • Construction noise from machinery including beepers when trucks reverse and the use of heavy machinery.
Don't miss these details

We’re working with BFHI (Beca, Fulton Hogan, Interflow joint venture) to help us.

We'll keep those in the area updated as the project continues.
