To apologise for the inconvenience and provide reimbursement for any bottled water or containers you may have had to buy, we'll be applying a $30 credit to impacted customer accounts.

There’s no need to contact us – if you’re a South East Water customer in Koo Wee Rup, we’ll apply the credit to your account and confirm this with you in June.  

Make sure we have your contact details are correct. You can do this online at mySouthEastWater or via our contact centre on 131 841 (8am - 6pm Monday - Friday)

We’re sorry if you’re receiving this notification for the first time. We’ve fixed a technical issue which meant that only some of you received our initial SMS and/or email yesterday.

To ensure your water is safe

We advise you to bring water to a rolling boil before drinking, preparing beverages, washing and preparing food, preparing baby formula, brushing teeth and making ice until further notice.

• Boil water in a kettle with an automatic cut-off or on the stove until it boils strongly, with a rapid stream of air-bubbles from the bottom of the kettle or pan.
• Once you have boiled the water, allow it to cool.
• You can store it in the fridge in clean, closed containers for drinking or food preparation – you do not need to boil it again.

Take care not to injure or scald yourself when you handle boiling water, especially around children.

You can still use unboiled water for showering and bathing, flushing toilets, washing dishes and clothes and garden watering. Make sure you do not drink water when you are in the bath and take extra care when bathing infants.

You can still use unboiled water to wash your hands.

Emergency drinking water is available from tankers in Koo Wee Rup

We’ll have water tankers on site from 8 am to 8 pm to provide emergency drinking water at the following locations:

• SUNDAY 23 MAY 2021 – Koo Wee Rup Primary School, 28–34 Moody Street, Koo Wee Rup
• MONDAY 24 MAY 2021 – Koo Wee Rup Recreation Reserve, 30 Denhams Road, Koo Wee Rup

Bring your own bottles, pots, kettles, etc. to fill up from the tankers.

If you have bought alternate drinking water please get in contact with our Accounts and Billing team on 13 16 94 (8 am – 6 pm, Monday to Friday) so that we can arrange a refund.

Precautionary boil water advisory – your water may not be safe to drink.

We’re currently investigating the cause of possible contaminated water entering the local water supply in Koo Wee Rup. We are working to return the water supply to normal, however contaminated water is still in some areas. This has resulted in potentially unsafe water entering the drinking water system and customer taps.

We’re working closely with Department of Health to resolve this issue, and as a precautionary measure, a boil water advisory is being issued until completely resolved.

This applies to the Koo Wee Rup in South East Water’s service area.
