Apply for the Water and Sewerage Rebate to save up to $260 off your water bill 

The Victorian Government offers a rebate to support community groups and not-for-profit organisations with the cost of their water bills.

Organisations that mostly use land for community benefit are eligible for a rebate of up to $260 a year on the fixed service charge of their water bill. 

Apply in a few easy steps

1. Confirm if your property is eligible

2. Gather supporting documents that show your organisations work or goals. You'll need to supply these with your application.

3. Complete the rebate application form. Click here to apply.

4. Send the form through to us as an attachment via email to support@sew.com.au. If we have any questions we'll get in touch.

Once we receive your application, we’ll check you have an account with us and your application is complete. Then we’ll send it to The State Revenue Office for processing.

When your application has been approved you’ll see the credit applied on your bill. If we need more information about your application or if it's not approved, we'll contact you by email. 

Your organisation might be eligible 

To be eligible, the property must be 'predominantly used' for one of the following:

  • By a charitable organisation that helps the community.

  • By a not-for-profit organisation that offers or supports outdoor sports, recreation, culture, or similar activities.

  • By a war veterans’ organisation.

  • By a public organisation, like one that manages a park or open space. 

‘Predominantly used’ means that an eligible organisation uses more than 50% of the property or uses the property for more than 50% of the time for their activities.

Examples of eligible organisations

These can include organisations in fields such as education (kindergartens, private schools, state schools, TAFEs, and universities), youth services, religious groups, community groups, animal welfare services, hospitals, outdoor recreation, cultural or sporting activities, veteran support and aged care.

Supporting documents  

If it’s the first time your organisation has applied for a rebate on water and sewerage service charges, you’ll need to supply the following with your application:

  •  A copy of your organisations constitution or rules.  

  • A summary of what your organisation does showing its goals or purpose. Such as a mission or vision statement.  

  • Any other relevant documents that show your organisations activities or goals. Such as a recent meeting agenda and notes, brochures, publications or an annual report.
