Where we will be working from 29 September

What we're doing

The scheme will involve the design and construction of a transfer main and 3 connection networks to bring recycled water from the Eastern Treatment Plant to service around 40 commercial sites in the Bayside, Kingston, Greater Dandenong and Monash Local Government Areas. For information about the entire scheme visit Dingley Recycled Water Scheme.

We'll be installing recycled water pipes under Pillars Road to deliver recycled water to the rest of the Dingley Recycled Water Scheme network.

Pillars Road is a part of the Transfer Main section of the Scheme, which has been awarded to our Industry Partner Abergeldie, BMD, KBR Joint Venture (ABK).

We're working with the City of Greater Dandenong to reduce impacts of both our projects in Pillars Road.

When it's happening

We'll start works from September 2025 until late March 2026. Works will then move north west through Waterways, Braeside Park, along the Mordialloc Freeway Reserve and Old Dandenong Road.

Working hours will be Monday to Friday between 7am and 6pm. On the odd occassion, we may need to work at other times for safety, technical or permit reasons.

We expect recycled water to flow to all sites before 2028.

What might impact you

We’ll do our best to keep impacts to a minimum, however these are the kinds of things you might notice while we work:

  • Full road closure between work areas. We'll be in touch with affected residents. Local access will be maintained but you might have to enter from one end of Pillars Road depending on your property location.
  • More trucks on the streets around you
  • Less car parks around the work zones
  • Construction noise from machinery including beepers when trucks reverse and the use of heavy machinery
  • Traffic management will be required in particular locations construction staff will be around to make sure people, bikes and cars can move around safely during work hours.

Please take care when travelling around the work sites.

Don't miss these details

We'll do everything we can to minimise disruption to the community and environment. However, we will have to close sections of the road to safely install the pipeline.

Locals will still have property access throughout the works. However, you may have to enter and exit from one end of Pillars Road depending on where we're working. We'll keep you updated on traffic conditions via ABK's SMS updates. If you'd like to be added to their distribution list, please email dingley@sew.com.au

ABK will have a temporary storage area for materials and equipment in the area. It will be secure and adhere to strict safety requirements.

You shouldn’t notice any change to your water or sewer services while we work.

When we’ve finished the job, we’ll leave things how we found them and make sure we return any areas we’ve impacted as close as possible to their original condition. This includes reseeding any grassed areas. Please take care around these areas to allow the grass to grow.

City of Greater Dandenong are also working in Pillars Road. For more information about their project please call 8571 1000 or email council@cgd.vic.gov.au

Important information for visitors of Pillars Road properties

Please let any visitors to your property know of potential delays and detours during works.

When we're moving heavy machinery, you may have to wait at the road closure until it's safe for our team to direct you though the works area.

If you have regular customers, visitors or large deliveries to your property, please contact us so we can let our traffic management team know.

If you, your customers or visitors have any concerns please don't hesitate to contact the project team on the details below.

We will also keep information on this webpage updated throughout the project.

No, we don't plan to impact driveway access. If for any reason during construction we need to block your driveway access, we will notify you in person and where possible, provide at least 24 hours' notice so that alternative parking arrangements can be made.
