You might not notice a lot of the work we do because most of it is beneath your feet. Every day, we’re maintaining and upgrading the pipes and pumps that keep the sewage network flowing.
We've now completed works within our Pakenham Water Recycling Plant (WRP) on Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road in Pakenham, deliverede by our partner Beca, Fulton Hogan, Interflow (BFHI).

The works will:
• Improve service reliability into the future.
• Future proof the sewer network.
• Reduce ongoing maintenance and repair costs.
Construction was completed in late October 2025.
The Pakenham South Employment Precinct Branch Sewer project involves the construction, testing and commissioning of approximately 600 metres of DN600 gravity sewer, maintenance holes and connections. The alignment runs from an existing stub within the Pakenham Water Recycling Plant to a new developer delivered maintenance hole in the road reserve of Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road.
The works zones may involve some lane closures on Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road, and include temporary fencing and barriers to ensure the safety of nearby residents and the local community.
You can expect us to work Monday to Friday between 7 am and 5 pm, and Saturdays between 8 am to 1 pm. No work is planned for public holidays. We'll let you know if we need to work outside these hours for safety or technical reasons.
Construction is expected to start from mid-June for approximately 12 weeks.
South East Water and partner, BFHI will keep you informed about the project and construction in your area. We'll also keep this webpage up to date.
During the works, BFHI will have a site compound near the internal entrance of the Pakenham Water Recycling Plant.
The construction methods chosen are not likely to cause high levels of dust and vibration. The project team will carry out regular site area inspections during high volumes of work to monitor for the safety and comfort of local residents and the community. There will be periods of noise from machinery and drilling rigs.
