I'm a renter
Find out what you need to know whether you’re moving in or moving out of a property.
Let’s get you sorted
Whether you're moving in or out of your rental property, we can help you organise your account in just a few minutes.

New to South East Water?
Good news! As a renter moving into a property in our area, you don’t need to do anything. Your rental provider or property manager will let us know and give us your details - we'll set up an account for you.
You’ll receive your first bill within three months of moving in. Most customers will receive their bill by email, so it's best to make sure we're on your approved senders list so your bill doesn't end up in your junk mail.
What will I need to pay for?
As a renter, in most cases you’ll only be responsible for paying the water usage charge. This charge now includes what was previously called the sewage disposal charge. Check out our prices and charges here.
Property owners pay for everything else.
Existing customer?
Make sure you tell us you’re moving out of your previous property at least two business days beforehand. For your new place, you’ll get a new billing account number.
Here are some important things you need to know:
- Your BPay reference number will change, so double check you’re paying the right account
- If you have a direct debit, you’ll need to set it up again you can do this at mySouthEastWater
- Have a concession card? Once Centrelink or DVA have updated your address, you’ll need to add your concession to your new address. You can do that via mySouthEastWater
Tell us you’re moving out
If you’re moving out of your rental property, you’ll need to tell us to close your water account. Your rental provider or real estate agent won’t do it for you.
How much notice do I need to give?
Using the form, you can let us know up to 30 days in advance, but no less than two business days before you move. This gives us time to arrange a final meter read so you’re not charged for water that’s not yours. We’ll send your last water bill for this property about 10 days later.
Is there anything else I need to do?
You'll also need to update or cancel any payment arrangements or concessions you have for this account. If you’re moving to a new property in our area, you’ll get a new billing account number, so will need to set up these up again. You can do all this via mySouthEastWater.
If you've already registered for mySouthEastWater, your new account should appear automatically. If you don't see it, you may need to link it. You can do this by clicking on Add account on the home page.
Moving out form
Complete this form if you’re a renter moving out of your current property. It should only take a few minutes. You’ll need your account number, which can be found on top of your bill.
You can also login to mySouthEastWater and use the form there.
