Funding food relief for local families
Families across Melbourne’s south-east who are doing it tough will soon receive a helping hand, with local food relief organisation ‘We All Eat’ delivering an additional 850 food parcels thanks to support from South East Water’s 2025 Community Grants program.
The independent not-for-profit group received a grant to fund food purchases, fuel costs and volunteer logistics, helping the group meet growing community demand during the cost-of-living crisis.
We All Eat provides free, nutritious food parcels to people experiencing hardship, easing pressure on families and individuals doing it tough. The team operates food parcel collections in Skye and Pakenham and offers delivery for those who can’t access the pick-up points.
We All Eat President Aroha Langley said the grant would enable the team to deliver 850 additional food parcels over 6 months, bringing total distribution to more than 2,000.
“More families are struggling and requests for support have doubled in just 4 months; this grant helps us step up to meet that need.
“It also helps us invest in long-term sustainability by training volunteers and improving delivery systems so we can support even more people.”
South East Water General Manager Strategy and Stakeholder Karen Lau said the program aimed to support grassroots organisations making a real difference.
“Food insecurity is a challenge in parts of our community, and we’re proud to support projects that deliver practical help where it’s needed most,” Ms Lau said.
“This grant is about more than food parcels, it's about community, dignity and connection.”
The We All Eat project is one of 20 initiatives supported through South East Water’s 2025 Community Grants program which has now provided more than $600,000 to nearly 100 community groups since its launch 6 years ago.
