South East Water is inviting all local primary, kindergarten and early learning students to create an entry for this year’s National Water Week poster competition.

Students can design, draw or paint a poster that reflects this year’s National Water Week theme: Water for all, inspiring action, which highlights the important role of water in bringing individuals and communities together.

South East Water General Manager Strategy and Stakeholder, Karen Lau said the poster competition was a fun and engaging activity for students to complete together in the classroom and learn about the value of water.

"The National Water Week poster competition is a great way to harness the imagination of our younger generations to creatively demonstrate their connection to water, our most precious resource.
“I’m excited to see poster entries that might share children’s knowledge on how to save water, show the connection to our waterways and environment, or help us understand how fresh, clean drinking water is essential for a healthy life.”

St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School Acting Principal, Lisa Kniese said the Chelsea based school was delighted to be taking part in the National Water Week poster competition.

“As a school community, we are very fortunate to live near waterways and the bay. We are committed to keeping these areas clean and learning more about the actions we can take each day to protect this precious resource," said Ms Kniese.

First prize winners from South East Water’s local entries will automatically be entered into the state competition, with winners announced during National Water Week, 21 – 27 October 2024.

Students can win a voucher of up to $100 for themselves and $500 for their school to spend on a sustainability project. Categories range from early learning and kindergarten through to Grade 6, with both collaborative and individual entries welcome from kindergarten students.

Entries close at 5pm, Friday 6 September.
