South East Water has launched a new online self-service tool for customers and the community to view its proposed water, sewer and recycled water infrastructure for the next 30 years.

Designed to meet the needs of Melbourne’s fast-growing south-east, the Infrastructure Master Plan tool gives users 24-hour access to information on South East Water’s current and planned assets, as well as sewer catchment areas and water distribution zones in greenfield areas.

This data will help inform and improve application processes and potentially reduce construction delays and associated costs. This supports the Victorian Government’s priority to build more houses, more quickly to accommodate the state’s continued strong population growth, as outlined in its Housing Statement 2024–34.

South East Water’s General Manager Liveable Water Solutions, Charlie Littlefair said the spatial mapping tool will be useful for people who regularly apply for planning or building permits or plan new developments, including developers, planners, surveyors and engineering consultants.

“The data contained in the Infrastructure Master Plan tool also demonstrates how we’re staying ahead of population growth by significantly investing in infrastructure in designated growth areas and urban precincts. Some of these projects include major upgrades to several water recycling plants, as well as to the Ballarto Road Sewer Pump Station and Rising Main in Clyde.

“We’re also future proofing our water supply with integrated water management solutions like the Dingley, Monterey and Western Port recycled water schemes. By providing a climate-resilient water source to sites across Melbourne’s south-east, these schemes will save precious drinking water now and into the future,” Mr Littlefair said.
